 Easy Homemade Fruit Snacks

There are many healthy snack ideas. Stuffed peppers, spiced nuts, and fruit platters are good examples of nutrition and energy.

However, they can be expensive if you don't have time to prepare them. The price you pay at the grocery store just to cut fruit, put it in a plastic box, and add fruit topping isn't always practical. Let's change this for the better.

Easy Homemade Fruit Snacks

Quick, healthy snacks are plentiful if you make them when you have time. We hope the healthy snack recipes in this article will inspire you to think about what to feed yourself and your family in the coming weeks or months.

Fruit Candy

These fruit snacks are basically a healthy version of jelly. As you can imagine, we also recommend using homemade gelatin, which can be made from bone broth and chicken feet, among other things. Store-bought powdered gelatin is also great.

6 glasses of fruit juice

3 cups fruit puree

1 ½ cups gelatin powder

¾ cup sugar, honey or maple syrup

Combine fruit juice and sweetener of your choice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil before adding fruit puree (use any fruit, depending on nutritional value, taste and dietary restrictions).

Using a whisk, gently fold in the gelatin powder. You will notice that it becomes increasingly difficult to work with if you take your time, allowing the ingredients to mix naturally and continuously.

Finally, scoop the mixture in batches from a non-stick bowl, or simply into a large bowl, as you would regular gelatin. Once cool, refrigerate until your fruit gummiest begin to take shape.

Healthy fruit snacks

Common fruit snacks like fruit rolls are often not as healthy or economical as we would like. Whether we like it or not, our kids love them for their taste and convenience. It is essentially a fruit skin made from various pureed and dehydrated fruits.

The beauty of fruit skin is that you don't need a specific recipe. If you have pears, apples, oranges, strawberries, bananas, or any other fruit, you're fine. In particular, we recommend the following ingredients.

10 cups of raw fruit

1 ¼ cups sugar, honey, or maple syrup (optional)

1/3 cup lemon juice

The purpose of the lemon juice in this fruit skin recipe is not for flavor. Citrus is able to prevent the darkening of the fruit during the drying process, which occurs at low temperatures.

Start by mixing the fruit puree. In our example, we are using 10 cups of raw fruit, so we can make a large batch for the entire month. Blend in a food processor, add honey, maple syrup, fruit juice and/or water for smooth and runny results.

Set the dry fruit dehydrator to 135 degrees. Pour the 0.5 cm thick lemon-treated fruit puree into the dehydrator's non-stick trays and dry until the sticky texture of the fruit is gone.

The term "fruit skin" is often misused. It doesn't have to be chewy at all, and the easiest way to keep it soft is to take it out of the dehydrator as soon as you can pull it off the tray without resistance.

Finally, we recommend that you provide a storage option. It usually doesn't keep in the pantry for more than a few weeks, unless it's packed in a vacuum container. However, it will easily last at least a month in the refrigerator in zip lock bags.
